The Council on Lung Infections tirelessly advances research, advocacy and clinical practice, develop evidence-based guidelines and hosts symposiums and conferences that share updates and groundbreaking discoveries on the diagnosis and management of lung infections. These include our Lung Infection Summits: InFACTivity, held each year since 2019, that showcase practices on how to approach emerging respiratory illnesses and challenges that have not just burdened our country but as well as other nations. The Council have also collaborated with international organizations such as the ATS and APSR and had joint projects with them. Advocacies were done through medical missions and public education campaigns that help spread awareness on these respiratory illnesses, bridge gaps in healthcare access and ensure that even the remote communities can be helped. A recent landmark achievement of the Council was co-hosting the 4th Global Conference for World Pneumonia Day with local and international partners and Pneumolight 2024, an event that lighted up more than 300 iconic landmarks BLUE to increase visibility on pneumonia and symbolize hope, resilience and commitment to fight this disease.
